The
Premio Internacional Conde de Barcelona (International Count of Barcelona Prize) is an award granted by the
Fundació Conde de Barcelona (Count Foundation of Barcelona) to the person, company or institution that has made an outstanding contribution to the world of communication by the largest scale.
In its first edition, the judge composed by patrons of the foundation, awarded the distinction to the journal, "The New York Times" to the president Arthur Sulzberger. Since it was configured as a platform of moral rearming of the society of New York, it was the decisive motive for election of the medium.
The delivery of the award was celebrated in 2002 in the stalls of
Gran Teatre del Liceu, in an act presided by the Royalty of Spain.
The second edition of the Award has been granted to the Movimiento Internacional de la Cruz Roja y la Media Luna (International Movement of the Red Cross and the Half Moon), where people of very different social origin coexist and work jointly. The delivery took place 2004.
