Barcelona History |

The Fundación Conde de Barcelona (Foundation Count of Barcelona) was constituted by La Vanguardia in 1986 with the purpose of impelling activities with the spirit of promoting sciences and culture, with a social function.

The patronage of this foundation is integrated by King Juan Carlos as president of quality and Javier Godó Muntañola, as vice-president.

In 2002 Josep Caminal was nominated as director, and assistant manager to Màrius Carol.

The Foundation grants the Premio Internacional Conde de Barcelona (International Award of Count of Barcelona), that is delivered every year to that person, company or institution emphasising their contribution to the world of communication in its widest meaning.

The Foundation also summons the Premio Godó de Periodismo (Godó Award of Journalism) and the Premio Godó de Fotoperiodismo (Godó Award of Photojournalism), which are integrated by outstanding personalities of the different ambiences of the social cultural and professional world.

Another preferable activity is the edition of books of historical interest, the first one of which it was the work "Los Condes de Barcelona Vindicados" ("The Vindicated Counts of Barcelona"), of Próspero de Bofarull and Mascaró, whose first edition dates back to 1836.

The direction of the Foundation has received the order of the patronage of putting the basis to kick start a master of management of audio-visual mass media in the course of the year.
