The Olympic Games of XXV were held between 25 of July and the 9 August of 1992. Barcelona was already candidate for the Games of 1924 and 1936.
The sports in this edition were: athletics, badminton, basket ball, hand ball, base ball, boxing, cycling, fencing, gymnastics, weight-lifting, horse riding, hockey, judo, combat, synchronized swimming, swimming, modern pentathlon, canoeing, rowing, long and high jumping, table tennis, tennis, archery, sailing, volley ball, water polo.
There were 9,364 athletes (6,657 men and 2,707 women) of 169 countries, competing in 24 sports and 257 specialties.
