The Copa Mundial de Fútbol (Football World Cup) of 1982 took place in Spain, between the 13 of June and 11 of July.

In Barcelona there were two stages: The Sarrià Stadium and Camp Nou.

The opening ceremony of Camp Nou of Barcelona, where more than 3,000 students of the city forming diverse images in the field, releasing a huge dove, symbol of peace.

The champion was Italy, beating Germany in the finals of Santiago Barnabeu, in Madrid, by 3-1 (Paolo Rossi, Tardelli and Altobelli, for Italy and Paul Breitner for Germany).

Spain remained in the second round (eighth in the finals) till they were defeated in Valencia by North Ireland (0-1).

The mascot was Naranjito.
